Snow,Sick and Sea Monkeys

Its been quite the few days around the house. Kade finally started to get better and Ivy and I proceeded to get really ill. We had to skip the museum and our playdates, poor Kade missed out because we were sick. So we went out and got some things to do at home, one of which was Sea Monkeys! Now, I can't tell you if Kade wanted them, or Mike and I wanted them (we never had them as kids, talk about deprived) but we are having a pretty good time learning about them and watching them grow.

So day 1 we used the water purifier and let it sit overnight.

Day 2, the eggs!Kade trying darn hard to see them but they are beyond small at that point. You can see them with the naked eye fine today and on Friday we get to feed them for the first time. Its a really good science project, we've talked about water having to be safe for them from chemicals, the eggs and what is happening, how they are growing, we have to oxygenate the water daily because I guess they use it all up with their growth spurt (they double in size daily) so we swish the water back and forth into containers to get air into the water, which Kade is just fascinated with. They love sunlight so we have to make sure they get a daily dose as well.

They still don't look like the pictures in Archie comics tho :)

And our new Betta fish, Fishie. Guess who named him.
Yesterday was SO nice before the blizzard started so Mike and Kade played outside. Kade had beyond fun, it was the first time in weeks he was well enough to get out and play.
Ivy banging on the window watching them, her hand is transparent in this picture, weird. And someone found my bag of flour.
And this would be Kade bored and entertaining himself. I walked into the kitchen and he was having his own party by himself in the highchair. Whatever floats his boat.

So we are just hunkered down surviving the BIG BLIZZARD (whatever! talk about media exaggeration!) and here's hoping I didn't jinx it LOL! Mike is at work just fine, the power is fine (touch wood) and we rented videos yesterday in preparation for the snowday. Nooo problem.
