Capital Ex

We headed out to Capital Ex today, and the kids had a fantastic time. Kade had noticed Sunday night on the way home from Calgary that the "carnival" was in town, and he has been talking about the ferris wheel since he saw it . So of course, we made sure that he and Mike went for a ride on it, and he was so incredibly excited. I told Mike its like he had this vision in his head, and his vision of the carnival HAD to include the ferris wheel, its all he has talked about.

The toys we won for the kids, yup, same old game, guess the person's weight. EXCEPT, this year, mom had to step up to the plate for Ivy's toy, a certain dad has put on weight and wasn't as good at faking out the carnie this year LOL! So yes, a complete strange man now knows my weight, can we say mothers' love? And he was lucky he guessed me at 15 lbs lighter or I might have smucked him one ;)

The butterfly exhibit. Kade was really brave and wanted to go in this year, he stayed in the stroller the whole time, but that was a big step for him, its freaky when you think of it, hundreds of fluttering insects all around you?

Crummy pics but here they are.

Playing "farm hand", a lot of fun! I thought this was a brilliant kids activity. They went thru the "barns", fed each fake animal some corn, learned in each, picked up an egg, or milk carton, or potato, then at the very end, took it all to the farmers market where they sorted them into bins. After sorting, they returned their buckets and they earned a "dollar" for all their hard work, and went to the store to redeem it for a snack of their choice, how fun is that!

Rides....

The fire department had a great display/setup.
The mini fireman training was great, they hauled the sled around a wee course, then climbed up a climber, slid down, hauled a pulley to lift up a weighted bundle...
..then took a hose to a target, and Kade hit that target dead on. The fireman turned to Mike and said "Wow, is he ever intense!" because he didn't even crack a smile, he took that hose, aimed it and his gaze didn't even waver until the fireman told him he was done LOL!

Add in a bucket (!!) of mini donuts, lots of walking around, some music, more kids activities, playing, and it was a great afternoon!

the farm hand was the best thing about the kids area. my kids loved it. there was a lot of really cool free stuff to do for the kids once you paid to get in.
