So Mike went to get the sod today, and was told that they wouldn't be able to deliver it until Tuesday. Riiight. Like they can't put two and two together and figure out that people want to sod on the long weekend. The silliest thing I have ever heard of business-wise. Anyhoo, we have the wonder-wagon, and it took only 4 trips to bring back 110 rolls. Which was a skid and a half of sod. Damn, we love our wagon.
Alrighty the following walk-thru is for Brandy, this is what you have to look forward to next summer. Heheheheeeee....
So while Mike was getting the sod, I took the sod roller (big huge drum that you put water in to make it heavy) filled in some low spots and rolled the entire backyard. The guy who drilled our fence and deck holes left a couple deep tread tracks so they had to be filled. Boy, that was fun.
Then I started laying the sod in the middle, then remembered that you do if from the outside in, and then did the right side. Look look, I actually did all that sod ... Kade looks so cute sprawled in the dirt watching in fascination.
And then Mike took over while I shouted directions from the house. *snicker*
Taa-daaaa! We have grass!
We then took the roller out again, and went over the entire yard again to pack down the sod and make sure the roots had contact with the dirt. We didn't sod where the second level of the deck is going to be, but we did the whole area beside the south neighbors house (actually, I did that part too) and then part of the north side. We are putting a shed there this fall so no use sodding only to cover it up.You can see my newest flowerbed at the top left, I can't wait to get to that one next year, there's going to be stepping stones starting at the little entrance...and flowers....why isn't there enough time in the summer to get everything done NOW?
The kids were so awesome, I am so proud of them. Once we got a bit of grass down, Ivy sat and played in the shade of the fence, Kade had a two hour nap and when he was up he was soo well behaved. We actually were able to do the sodding together for a couple hours, otherwise Mike still would be laying it, there was over 1100 sq feet of sod!
So just the second deck and our back fence left that we want to get done this year.

we've done sod in this yard, but it's tiny so it was pretty easy breezy. in the new house i know it'll be a lot more work. so you guys didn't make it to the fairy berry festival? lol, now that you've sodded you get to water it like crazy and stay off of it forever!
No, no festival, we really wanted to get this done today since Auntie Kandice comes tomorrow for her visit.
I ache all over.
Looks great! So when is the first backyard initiation party?? lol
