Well, for the first time ever, the kids are playing soccer! It was hard last year to always drive by the huge soccer field by us and the kids would want so badly to get out there and play. So we stood in line, signed them up and waited for the weather to co-operate.
Which it finally did, and Kade is so excited to get out there and play! He has had two games so far and loves going.
He is a very timid player though, not that this is all-out get them soccer league, but he just likes to run around following the other kids, not really trying to get the ball from anyone

As you can see here, just likes running, and that's ok. We are lucky to have a great patient coach who is kind and funny and understands kids. He gets down to their level to talk to them and really tries to help them learn. Compared to some of the coaches I could hear, phew, we are lucky! Its fun and not stressful and a good time for Kade.
And Ivy.Well, she was so excited to start!

And was not excited to play.
She was ok until she ran by us with the ball and picked it up, and Mike said "remember not to use your hands". Then she ran off kicking the ball, then 5 seconds later halfway down the field burst into tears and wouldn't play anymore. And to his credit, Mike wasn't loud or mean, just a normal reminder. I think she was a little overwhelmed and that just sent her over the top.
And so Mom had to spend the game with her on the field, helping her run and play. Next time she has to do it herself though, so we shall see.
She liked snacktime, so I told her that she doesn't get the special snacks that the team gets unless she plays with them, or it's not fair to her teammates. That might work.
I WAS so happy to see that my kid wasn't the only one crying, nor was I the only parent on the team on the field helping LOL! It was hilarious, one big mess. Welcome to Little Kickers Soccer!
And speaking of good coaches, he the best to put up with all the kids wandering off, trying to teach and have fun, he was a gem!
